Arohan means to rise. Rooted in the values of compassion and service, Arohan Trust is a public charitable organization working for the upliftment of poor and needy communities since 2010. In collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society, Kamrup District Branch, we have been actively addressing the needs of marginalized families through health, livelihood, education, climate action, and disaster management initiatives. Registered under the Indian Trust Act on 2nd July 2010, Arohan Trust is also recognized under 12AB and 80G, ensuring transparency and accountability in our work.

Objectives

Health and Medical Care Objectives

  • To establish, operate, and maintain hospitals, dispensaries, health centers, Arogya Mandirs, and mobile medical units to provide medical aid, preventive health care, and awareness services for the poor, needy, and rural population.
  • To organize health camps, blood donation drives, immunization programs, and reproductive and child health workshops, and to promote awareness on nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention among all sections of society
  • To undertake programs for mental health promotion, substance abuse prevention, environmental health, and safe drinking water, including the installation of purification equipment and training in rural areas.
  • To empower rural women and children in the North-Eastern Region (NER) by addressing issues of health, sanitation, hygiene, and rights, and to provide necessary medical or material assistance during epidemics, public health crises, and natural disasters

Education and Livelihood Development Objectives

  • To promote vocational education, entrepreneurship, and livelihood skill development among youth and women, with the aim of creating sustainable employment and economic self-reliance.
  • To support and strengthen Self-Help Groups (SHGs), cooperatives, and microenterprises through training, capacity building, and access to financial and marketing opportunities for income generation.
  • To implement poverty alleviation and rural development programs focused on improving living standards, generating rapid income, and establishing sustainable self-employment opportunities for rural communities.
  • To promote climate-resilient, eco-friendly, and sustainable livelihood models in agriculture, handicrafts, and other local industries to ensure environmental balance and long-term economic stability.
  • To conduct workshops, seminars, training, and exposure programs on information technology, skill development, and entrepreneurship for the rural population of NER, and to undertake projects related to agriculture, water conservation, and resource management such as wells, storage facilities, and farm equipment support.

 

Women and Child Development Objectives

  • To empower women through education on legal rights, leadership training, capacity-building, and economic inclusion, thereby promoting gender equality and social justice.
  • To promote and protect child rights by ensuring access to education, healthcare, nutrition, and safeguarding children from exploitation, abuse, and neglect.
  • To organize Kishori Sabhas, Mahila Sabhas, and community awareness programs focusing on menstrual health and hygiene, nutrition, safety, leadership, and gender sensitization for adolescent girls and women.
  • To undertake projects and partnerships with government and non-governmental organizations for advancing women’s welfare, child development, and inclusive growth within the community.

 

Environment and Natural Resource Conservation Objectives

  • To undertake and promote activities for the protection, preservation, and improvement of the natural environment, including forests, water bodies, air, and soil, through tree plantation, pollution control, and public awareness programs.
  • To promote climate resilience and sustainable resource use in environmentally vulnerable communities, encouraging eco-friendly practices and renewable energy use.
  • To preserve wildlife and protect endangered and rare species, by conducting research, awareness campaigns, and training programs in collaboration with government authorities, forest departments, and legal institutions.
  • To prevent environmental pollution by discouraging the use of harmful materials such as polythene, promoting waste management, and organizing cleanliness drives to maintain air, water, and soil quality.
  • To conserve natural resources and maintain ecological balance by implementing social forestry schemes, biodiversity conservation projects, and sustainable development initiatives in partnership with government and non-government agencies.

 

Social Welfare and Humanitarian Relief Objectives

  • To promote gender equality, social justice, and protection of human rights through awareness programs, legal assistance, and community-based initiatives aimed at empowering marginalized and vulnerable groups.
  • To collaborate with Government departments, CSR bodies, and NGOs for implementing welfare schemes, community development projects, and social support programs for the needy.
  • To provide care, shelter, and assistance to the elderly, differently-abled persons, houseless children, and women, and to extend help to individuals affected by domestic violence, neglect, or abuse.
  • To undertake relief and rehabilitation measures for communities affected by natural calamities such as floods, earthquakes, cyclones, famines, epidemics, fires, or any other emergencies, including providing financial, material, or medical support.
  • To prevent substance abuse and drug addiction among youth, organize awareness campaigns on the harmful effects of drugs, and establish helplines, ambulance services, and other emergency response facilities for people in distress, especially in rural areas.

 

Art, Culture, and Heritage Promotion Objectives

  • To promote harmony and unity among different sections of society by organizing cultural programs, festivals, and community events that foster social cohesion and mutual respect.
  • To encourage and develop arts, music, dance, theatre, and sports activities among children, youth, and adults to preserve cultural heritage and promote holistic development.
  • To support initiatives for national integration and communal harmony through awareness campaigns, intercultural programs, and collaborative community projects.
  • To undertake educational, cultural, and heritage projects under the guidance and supervision of organizations such as UNESCO, and to implement programs aligned with international cultural standards.
  • To organize workshops, seminars, and training programs in arts, culture, and traditional crafts to build skills, awareness, and appreciation of local, regional, and global cultural heritage.

 

General Charitable Purpose:

  • To extend all charitable benefits without any discrimination of caste, creed, religion, gender, or social status
  • To undertake Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects and community welfare programs for holistic rural and urban development
  • To collaborate with government and non-government organizations for the implementation of welfare schemes and developmental initiatives
  • To undertake collaborative programs and projects with International organization such as UNESCO,UNICEF, RED CROSS SOCIETY, UNO and WHO for the holistic development of the community by promoting universal education, improving public health and sanitation, supporting maternal and Child welfare, enhancing youths, leadership and skill development, assisting in disaster management and relief, advancing gender equality and social justice, protecting the environment in line with the UN sustainable development goals, facilitating Research and Knowledge exchange, and building institutional partnership and sustainable community welfare and global cooperation.

Important Compliance Clauses

  • Non-Discrimination Clause:
    The benefits of the Trust shall be extended to all persons irrespective of caste, creed, religion, community, gender, social or economic status, language, or any other form of discrimination whatsoever. The activities of the Trust shall always aim to promote equality, social harmony, and inclusive development for all sections of society.
  • Prohibition of Personal Benefit:
    No part of the income, funds, or property of the Trust shall be used, directly or indirectly, for the personal benefit of the Founder(s), Trustees, Promoters, or their relatives. The Trustees shall not receive any remuneration or benefit from the Trust except reasonable reimbursement for actual expenses incurred in the course of official duties.
  • Irrevocability Clause:
    The Trust is irrevocable. The Trustees shall not have the power to revoke, dissolve, or alter the Trust except as permitted under applicable laws. In the event of dissolution, all remaining assets of the Trust shall be transferred to another Trust, Society, or Non-Profit Organization having similar aims and objects, and registered under section 12A & 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
  • CSR Activities Authorization:
    The Trust shall be empowered to undertake and implement Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects and allied activities as prescribed in Schedule VII of the Companies Act, 2013, and as amended from time to time. Such activities shall include, but are not limited to, education, health, sanitation, gender equality, environmental sustainability, livelihood enhancement, and rural development.
  • Authorization to Donate to Other NGOs:
    The Trust shall be authorized to give donations, grants, or assistance to other registered NGOs, Voluntary Organizations, Public Charitable Trusts, or Institutions having similar charitable objects and working for the welfare of society.
  • Investment of Surplus Funds:
    All surplus funds of the Trust shall be invested strictly in the modes and forms specified under Section 11(5) of the Income Tax Act, 1961, or any statutory modifications or re-enactments thereof. The Trustees shall ensure proper accounting, transparency, and compliance with all applicable financial and legal norms.
